HTC Invests In Beats Electronics, What's Next? HTC's Own HDTV?

Is HTC trying to be another Samsung or Sony?  

For $300 million, HTC is the exclusive handset maker for Beat Electronics, .  This differentiation is what is key to mobile devices and what will drive innovation in the mobile market at large.  Frankly, I think this is bigger news than HTC announcing a new handset.  

I honestly haven't heard of them until today.  Apparently, Beat also has deals in place with HP for the Touchpad and computers.  

I think this is a better way for HTC to spend $300 than what they did to buy S3 patents that were later ruled unpatentable.
