Virgin Mobile will be increase the rates for their pre-paid plans come July 20th. For $25 a month, you get 300 minutes with unlimited data use. After the 19th, it'll go up to $35 a month.
Even then, that's not a bad deal. There are higher rates you can get with more minutes but as far as the data plans go, it's all the same.
There is one thing however. VM will begin to meter data use as well. After 2.5 GB of download, the use will be throttled. I reckon it'll be back down to EDGE speed like T-Mobile.
And with the arrival of the Motorola Triumph, it doesn't get any better for switchers to pre-paid.
Thanks to Dave the Mobile Sage for the update (Business Wire).
